The 24 Lofts are positioned on top of a parking garage.
On this roofscape, a green landscape is created where the lofts are
perched on stilts allowing the “landscape” to flow and grow in and around them.
Here the garden is literally taken indoors.
From the Living area one is able to step from the floor onto the lawn within the unit.
This is achieved by creating a self draining earth layer which discharges surplus ground water.
The earth is not in contact with the interior of the unit, thereby eliminating damp issues.
The volume is designed to draw cool air from under each unit and exhaust hot air at high level in summer.
In winter the air flow is controlled below the structure to stop unwanted cold air.
The space is heated via solar radiation and underfloor solar water heating.
Exterior garden spaces are also created per unit. Each loft is separated from one another with a vertical garden screen.
A jogging, dog walking track is incorporated around the perimeter of the complex.
